Acutrack’s On Demand Backup CD/DVD Production

Let’s start with a scenario that most computer users have faced at least once – imagine that your old PC is getting too slow to handle all the new and shiny applications and programs that have hit the Web lately, and you decide it’s time to upgrade to a new computer. After some research, you settle on the latest machine and you feel great when you bring it home and unpack it.

As you start activating the computer and its operating system…it dawns on you…what about all the software that you have on your old PC…the applications that you absolutely cannot do without…the ones critical to your home-office and your daily bookkeeping?! You can’t possibly lose that, can you?

If the above picture is anything your customers might find themselves in, well, don’t worry…we have a solution!

For many customers, Backup CDs fulfill these two requirements perfectly.

Back up CDs generate more revenue… a lot more… I have proof!

Last weekend my cousin came to visit and wanted to take a tour of Acutrack to see what we do. During the tour, when I was showing him how our zero inventory, positive cash flow providing, on-demand CD/DVD production model works, he noticed a back up CD for Panda Software and immediately exclaimed, “Hey, I just got a CD exactly like that one. You guys make those here?!?” After I told him that we not only make the back-up CDs for Panda Software but also manufacture, store and fulfill their retail software boxes in the US, he excitedly proceeded to tell me the following story.

What is the difference between Direct Mail Services and Drop Shipping?

Direct Mail Services involves mailing identical pieces via USPS to a list of U.S. mailing addresses. Product that is Drop Shipped is sent in varying quantities, with specific per-piece shipping instructions, using a variety of carriers and/or over a period of time

Taking care of your CDs and DVDs

CDs and DVDs are sensitive optical recording surfaces. A good rule of thumb is to handle a DVD more carefully than a CD. Because a DVD consists of two sides glued together (each a mere 0.6 mm thick), it can be susceptible to damage from bending and/or twisting. Also, though DVD error-correction encoding is nearly ten times better than those of audio CDs, because of DVD’s much higher compression ratio, shorter pit length and narrower tracks, severe scratches can create occasional problems in playback. Here are some do’s and don’ts to safeguard your DVD, so that your precious data is readable for years to come.

Don’t Worry… DVD & Blu-ray Are Not Going Away Anytime Soon!

One of my friends told me that scientists have developed a new optical disc that can supposedly store up to 1.6 terabytes. After telling me this, he joked, “Should I start thinking about packing-up my brand new Blu-ray player?” Technology always changes and I am sure it will again, I thought to myself. So, I decided to dig deeper and gather some facts about this new SUPER disc. As it turns out, my friend was correct, researchers at Swinburne University of Technology in Melbourne, Australia have created a prototype using 'gold nano rods' (i.e. tiny particles of gold too small to see) and polarized light (i.e. light beaming in only one direction). Software Piracy Is Whipping an Already Struggling World Economy

With the economic downturn, more and more folks are resorting to either pirating software or buying pirated software! A recent article I read indicates that software piracy which was already a major problem is rapidly growing. This mounting problem is also holding back the economic resurgence.

The Future Is Bright With Disc Manufacturing On-Demand

I just returned from the Future of Packaged Media 2009 summit in Universal City, CA where I went to present a paper on "Eco-Friendly Optical Media Production & Products". Most people that I spoke with were cautiously optimistic about the optical media industry, but did feel that there will be a few MAJOR hiccups along the way this year. Maybe I am the eternal optimist or maybe my perspective is different, but I see tremendous opportunity with the manufacturing on demand model when it comes to optical discs - especially in this kind of an economic environment.
